Best convertible baby crib with changing table:

Stork Craft Portofino 4-in-1 convertible baby crib with changing table

Portofino is a popular choice for many parents. It is Storkcraft’s classic 4-in-1 convertible crib with a bonus. It has an attached changing table with convenient additional storage. It is a durable and sturdy baby crib, made from quality pine wood, and composites.

Of course, it is designed with safety in mind. Storkcraft Portofino has fixed sides, without any moving parts, and meets or even exceeds all the required safety standards.

Best convertible crib with changing table: Storkcraft Portofino

The crib grows with your child and converts into three different beds:

  • toddler bed
  • daybed
  • full-size bed, where detach changing table transforms into a convenient nightstand

Do I need to buy the conversion kit?

Unfortunately yes.

  • You have to buy a Storkcraft safety guardrail for a toddler bed. That is common for all convertible cribs and will cost you around $ 40 in this case.
  • You don’t need any additional purchases for the conversion into a daybed.
  • And again, for the conversion into an adult bed, you need a Storkcraft full-size conversion kit. That is a metal bed frame that connects the crib’s headboard with the footboard and carries the mattress. Of course, you need a bigger mattress as well.

How long can my child use a particular crib/bed stage?

  • stop using Storkcraft Portofino as a crib when your baby reaches 35 inches
  • the recommended weight limit for toddler and daybed stage: 50 pounds
Changing table Review

The changing table is attached to the right side of the crib. It includes three roomy drawers in the front and three open shelves for additional storage on the back. It comes with a waterproof vinyl change pad, which adds additional value to the crib.

When the crib serves as a full-size bed, you can use the detached changing table as a nightstand beside the bed.

The changer is sturdy, safe, and roomy for a combo crib. We love it!

Specifications:

  • Portofino is, of course, longer than standard convertible cribs without changing tables. It is 71 long and 32,5 inches in width, with a height of 43 inches.
  • The overall crib weight is 125 pounds.
  • Storkcraft Portofino is available in three safe, non-toxic finishes: cherry, espresso, and white.

The best convertible crib with changing table for short moms:

Graco Remi 4-in-1 combo crib with under crib drawer

Graco Remi is a sophisticated combo crib with clean lines, which creates a beautiful modern look in your nursery.

All Graco’s cribs are made by Storkcraft, which is the manufacturer of our winner above. No wonder it is so good!

Remi is a 4-in-1 convertible crib that offers an abundance of storage space for all of your baby’s belongings. Besides the great changing table, Graco Remi also possesses a large drawer underneath the crib. This feature distinguishes Remi from other combo cribs on our list and gives it the added value that might persuade you to opt for this combo crib.

best combo crib: Graco Remi

The crib grows with your child and converts into three different beds:

  • toddler bed without toddler safety guardrail
  • daybed
  • full-size bed

Do I need to buy the conversion kit?

Graco Remi is a 4-in-1 convertible crib. Even if it doesn’t have a safety guardrail, it does convert into a toddler bed. That is a common practice in the convertible crib industry.

You get a toddler bed by removing the front rail of the crib and placing the mattress on the lowest setting. The toddler bed is the same as a daybed, just the mattress is in a different position.

As I said, that is not uncommon for a convertible crib, but if you don’t feel comfortable with it, better choose a convertible crib with an optional toddler safety guardrail.

You have to purchase Graco’s full-size conversion kit for the final transition into a full-size bed. For the final conversion, you need a metal bed frame and a full-size bed mattress.

How long can my child use a particular crib/bed stage?

  • stop using Graco Remi as a crib when your baby reaches 35 inches
  • the recommended weight limit for toddler and daybed stage: 50 pounds

If Remi lost a few points because it doesn’t have a toddler bed stage in a true sense of meaning, it got them back with a large storage drawer under the crib.

With an under-crib drawer, Graco effectively filled otherwise unused space under the crib mattress area and gave you much-needed storage space for baby belongings.

Changing table Review

Remi’s changing table has three drawers and two open shelves on the back. It is attached to the right side of the crib. Remi’s changer is smaller than a stand-alone changing table but still big enough for a baby. This is not something that should divert you from the purchase, because it is the same for all combo cribs!

Because of the dimensions, it is hard to find a changing pad for combo cribs. That’s why it is nice to know you get a water-resistant vinyl change pad with the crib! Changer also comes with a safety strap for added security! Great!

Although you can detach it from the bed, I would not do it when using the Remi as a crib, toddler bed, or daybed. The right side of the crib had all the grooves cut and hardware already mounted on it. By not installing those drawers, it would leave a lot of sharp edges and screw holes. As a full-size bed later, that side is hidden, but not in the crib, toddler bed, or daybed form.

Specifications:

The dimension and weight of the crib:

  • overall: 72” long x 30” width, with 36″ high
  • changing table: 17” long x 28” deep
  • overall product weight: 105 lb
Best combo cribs: Graco Remi's measurements

The crib is available in white and espresso color, and in one color combination: Pebble gray, with white slats and drawers.

Mattress Information:

  • mattress sits on a metal spring support
  • adjustable mattress high: yes, 3 levels
  • compatible mattress size: standard (6″ deep x 27.25″ width x 51.62″ long)
  • mattress included: no
  • recommended mattress: Graco Premium foam crib and toddler mattress

Graco Remi is a perfect choice for petite moms. It has clean lines and bent upper part of the rail, making access to the baby easier than on bulky combo cribs.

Cribs that are suitable for short moms have a low profile. That doesn’t jeopardize the baby’s safety at all, and your child can’t climb out sooner as well! I won’t go into the details here, but if you want you can find out more about this topic here: Best cribs for short moms.

Best bang for the buck:

Delta Children Abby 4-in-1 convertible crib ‘N’ changer

Delta Children Abby is a lovely crib with an arch-style headboard. It is a 4-in-1 convertible crib, which will grow with your child from birth to adulthood.

Abby boasts a slatted design to make a classic but modern and timeless look. It is a safe crib, with strong and sturdy pine wood construction, without dropping sides.

It is the cheapest combo crib on our list, but with the same quality and durability!

With a simple, but appealing, modern design, Abby becomes so popular among parents, that Delta Children decided to offer it without changing table as well. You can choose among combo crib described here, or Delta Children Abby 4-in-1 convertible crib without changing table.

Best combo cribs: Delta Children Abby

The crib grows with your child and can convert into three different beds:

  • toddler bed
  • daybed
  • full-size bed with headboard only

Do I need to buy the conversion kit?

Yes, you have to buy a toddler guard rail and a full-size bed frame for the conversions.

While a crib mattress fits into a toddler bed and daybed, of course, you need a bigger mattress for a full-size adult bed too.

How long can my child use a particular crib/bed stage?

  • stop using Delta Children Abby as a crib when your baby reaches 35 inches
  • the recommended weight limit for toddler and daybed stage: 50 pounds
  • the recommended weight limit for a full-size bed: 250 pounds
Changing table Review

Abby’s changing table offers a safe and secure place to change or dress your baby. It is attached to the right side of the crib, and you can’t move it on the left side.

The changing table has two drawers and two shelves. A short shelf at the back, and a larger one above the drawers.

You don’t have to worry about where to find the fitted changing pad, as it is included.

You can’t expect the size and available storage space of a stand-alone changing table, but it is good for a combo crib.

Specifications:

Delta Children Abby convertible crib ‘N’ changer is made of solid pine wood, with an overall length of 72,5 inches. The Abby crib is 31,25 inches wide, with a height of 43,75 inches.

The versatile choice:

Dream On Me Niko 5-in-1 combo crib with changer

Niko has rugged good looks and a sturdy frame that sits low on the floor. It poses five conversions, which can mislead the customer into thinking he or she will get much more than with other combo cribs.

Niko is a 5-in-1 convertible crib because of the last conversion into a full-size adult bed. It can convert into an adult bed with a headboard and footboard, or into a bed without a footboard. As you can see, this is not something that will add more value to this crib.

Don’t get me wrong, Dream on me Niko is one of the best convertible cribs with changing table on the market. But if I compare it with the similar Delta Children Abby, I would choose the Abby. I think that an extra drawer on the changer is not worth the extra $80 you have to pay for the Niko.

Best combo crib: Dream On Me Niko

The fact that Niko is not special because of the last conversion, raises the question of what the crib has that would give it an added value compared to other combo cribs. It has a detachable changing table.
I am not talking about the last conversion, where you can detach it from all combo models. I am talking about the crib, toddler bed, and daybed stage. Niko has the ability to use the changer on the left or right side, or even separately, besides the crib!

The crib grows with your child and can convert into three different beds:

  • toddler bed
  • daybed
  • full-size bed with, or without a footboard

Do I need to buy the conversion kit?

Yes, if you intend to convert it into bigger beds, you have to buy the conversion kit separately.
You need a safety guardrail for a toddler bed and a full-size adult bed frame separately.

How long can my child use a particular crib/bed stage?

  • stop using Dream On Me Niko as a crib when your baby reaches 35 inches
  • the recommended weight limit for toddler and daybed stage: 50 pounds
Changing table Review

As mentioned before is Niko’s changing table removable. You can detach it and use it as a stand-alone changing table. That makes Niko incredibly versatile to adapt to any nursery design.

It gives you a lot of different options. You can use it on the left or right side, or even completely separated from the crib.

The changing table has three drawers in the front and two little shelves for additional storage at the back.

The included changing pad Dream On Me also saves you trouble with searching for the fitted one.

Specifications:

The combined length of the crib and changing table is 69 inches long. The crib is 33,2 inches wide, with a height of 39,1 inches. The measurements of the changing table are 16.25” L x 29.24” W.

Best combo cribs: Dream On Me Niko measurements

Niko is made from solid New Zealand pinewood, with an overall weight of 95 pounds. The crib alone weighs under 50 pounds.

It is available in four classics, non-toxic finishes: black, espresso, cherry, and white.

A durable pick:

Sorelle Tuscany 4-in-1 convertible baby crib with changing table

Sorelle Tuscany is a 4-in-1 convertible crib from Sorelle. It is a stylish crib, with a timeless design. It is a very space-efficient combo crib, which works well in small nurseries, but the crib, unfortunately, costs lots more than other combo cribs on our list.

Tuscany is a sturdy crib, made of solid pine wood. It is very durable and quality made, but as I already said an expensive crib.

Best combo crib: Sorelle Tuscany

The crib grows with your child and converts into three different beds:

  • toddler bed
  • daybed
  • full-size bed

Do I need to buy the conversion kit?

Yes, like with all combo cribs, you have to buy a toddler safety guardrail and a full-size conversion kit separately.

The Sorelles’ transition into a daybed can be done without any additional purchase.

How long can my child use a particular crib/bed stage?

  • stop using Sorelle Tuscany as a crib when your baby reaches 35 inches
  • the recommended weight limit for toddler and daybed stage: 50 pounds
Changing table Review

The changing table is attached to the right side of the crib. It contains three drawers, with metal euro glides. Drawers glide very smoothly, and the overall quality of the changer is very good.

On the changer’s back are also three little shelves for additional storage space.

For convenience, you get the vinyl changing pad beside the crib.

Specifications:

The overall length of this baby crib with changing table is 72 inches. The width of the crib is 35 inches. The crib is 44 inches high on the back, and few inches lower on the front side.

Best combo cribs: Sorelle's Tuscany measurements

Sorelle Tuscany 4-in-1 convertible crib with changing table meets all safety standards, and as such contains only non-toxic finishes.

You can get it in four different colors: white, espresso, cherry, and weathered gray.

The conclusion

The best convertible cribs with changing table on our list are safe and sturdy. There is no doubt about that!

Choose the one you like the most! Of course, consider the overall size, price of the crib, and additional costs (a safety guardrail for a toddler bed, a full-size adult bed conversion kit, the mattress, etc.).

I hope all the little differences we had listed above will help you with your decision!

    1. Which one is better, a combo crib, or convertible crib with a separate changing table?
      Which one would you choose?

      Thank you!

      1. Hi Bob!
There is no right and wrong here. If you don’t have enough space for a stand-alone changing table, a convertible crib with changing table (combo crib) could be the best solution for you!
A changing table on a combo crib is smaller, and you can’t use it as long as a stand-alone changing table. As I had enough space in my nursery, I decided on a convertible crib. There are plenty of good convertible cribs on the market, and we have reviewed a lot of them. You can also find lot’s of best of lists on our page, so feel free to look into them too.
But, if I wouldn’t have enough space, I would certainly decide on a combo crib! They have so many advantages! And my favorite model? I would choose Graco Remi 4-in-1 convertible crib with changer because of it’s modern design.
        Regards, Ines
