Things you should know when buying a mini crib that grows with your child:

Space-saving ability:

A mini crib is a perfect solution for those with space issues.

When it comes to mini cribs, parents often opt for a portable model. That’s because such mini cribs stand on wheels and can fold down for easy storage. By having a minimalistic frame, they are often even smaller than convertible mini cribs. Of course, I am talking about an inch max, but sometimes even an inch can make a difference.

However, if you have enough space for a convertible mini crib, I strongly suggest you pick this one instead. It saves you a lot of space and lasts longer because it grows with your child!

While having a smaller footprint than a full-size convertible crib, a mini convertible crib offers the same functionality and a regular rail height.

At this point, I want to mention one more crib, a combo mini crib. A combo mini crib is a convertible mini crib with an attached changing table. Yes, it has a bigger footprint than a regular mini convertible model, but you also get a changer with storage units. It is like a tiny nursery in one piece of furniture.

Co-sleeping by sharing the same room, not parent’s bed:

Federal requirements for overall crib safety are:

1. Cribs must have a steady framework without dropping sides, sturdy feet, solid construction, and reliable mattress support.
2. Cribs’ slats must be strong and no more than 2 3/8 inches apart. Solid woods prevent slats’ breaking. And the short distance between slats prevents the baby from entrapment between them.
3. Cribs’ framework shouldn’t have sharp edges and rough areas.
4. The wood used for the cribs shouldn’t have cracks or splits.

A mini convertible crib can convert into a mini toddler bed, mini daybed, and twin-size bed. We divide them based on the number of their conversions.

Still, toddlers indeed outgrow a mini toddler bed sooner than a regular one!

Those cribs that convert into an adult bed use their front and back panels for a headboard and footboard. As the mini crib’s panels are shorter, the headboard of adult beds is consequentially narrower.

Most mini cribs have inner dimensions around 38″ (96,52cm) by 24″ (60,96cm), and most mini crib mattresses correspond to those measurements!
