Dual-sided mattresses are two-stage sleeping systems. The mattress has two separate layers, one for infants and another for toddlers.
While regular crib mattresses are designed just for an infant or solely for a toddler, you can use a dual-sided crib mattress during both age stages.

Moonlight Slumber Little Dreamer crib mattress has one of the best dual-sided systems we have ever seen. Both layers meet all safety and quality expectations, and can easily compete with the best one-sided crib or toddler mattresses.
Everything is as it should be! While the infant layer is extra firm, made of, eco-friendly, plant-based, and high-density foam, a soft and plushy foam side is perfect for toddlers.
Note: Make sure you always set the crib mattress on the right side. Usually, you can flip it on the softer side around 9 months of baby’s age, but we recommend using it on the firmer side for as long as possible.
Sleeping on a firm surface is something babies are used to, so don’t rush. Why? Firmer mattresses are better for their development!

Firmness:
If the crib mattress is not firm enough, it is not safe! The safest sleeping position for your infant is on his back. If the mattress is not firm enough, he can turn his head or the whole body and doesn’t have the strength to turn it back. Fitting in the crib:
Sizes of the cribs and crib mattresses are standardized by the federal government, so in theory, all standard size mattresses fit in all full-size cribs.
Full-size crib mattresses must be at least 27 1/4 inches by 51 5/8 inches and no more than 6 inches thick. As you can see, the dimensions of Moonlight Slumber Little Dreamer crib mattress corresponds to the prescribed requirements!
Due to different crib frames, there may be minor deviations, so always check the inner dimensions of your crib and the size of the mattress. It must fit snuggle!
We try it in our Babyletto Hudson 3-in-1 convertible crib, and it fits perfectly.
A home test for fitting is very easy. Place your finger between the edge of the mattress and the crib frame. There shouldn’t be room for more than two fingers!

Because it is from memory foam, not innerspring, the Moonlight Slumber Little Dreamer crib mattress provides comfort to infants and toddlers.
Of course, for an infant side, safety is more important than comfort. So, the mattress is very firm on that side, but that is how it should be!
If it is too firm for you, it is safe for the baby! If a baby is tired, she will fall asleep just about everywhere anyway.
The toddler side had tested my almost three years old daughter, and she feels comfortable with it. It is just enough soft and plushy to sleep comfortably, but still with great support.

Even though the crib mattress has a dual-sided sleeping system, both sides give the proper support to your child. Just don’t forget to turn it on the right side!
Venting and heat regulation review:
A breathable mattress enables a good internal air circulation, which creates a climate that can cool or warm baby, depending on the environment.
Although the mattress doesn’t have visible venting holes on the sides, the special air channels in the foam enhance circulation, similar to innerspring mattresses where space between coils creates natural breathability
Heat retention test shows us how long it takes for a mattress to cool down from 130 to 98 degrees, which is average body temperature.
Moonlight Slumber Little Dreamer crib mattress cooled down in approximately 20 seconds, which is a good result, and proves that the child won’t overheat because of the mattress.
Corners and seams:
Corners of crib mattresses can be in two different shapes, square or rounded.
The appropriate shape of the corners depends on the crib model, but generally, square corners are a better choice.
As far as safety is concerned, there are no differences. The problem with rounded corners usually occurs because of the little gaps on crib’s edges that can catch pacifiers and other baby stuff. Also, sheets stay firmer on square edges.
Seams on Moonlight Slumber Little Dreamer crib mattress are dropped to the sides and sawn flat. That makes sheet changing and cleaning very easy. We like how tight sewn are seams, which contributes to waterproofing, the bed bug, and dust mite resistance, and prevents forming the odor.

Cleaning:
Because the mattress is waterproof, liquids and stains stay on the surface. That makes the cleaning incredibly easy. Everything you need to do is wiping it with damp sponge or cloth, and you are done.
Note: Avoid cleaning with harsh cleaners, antibacterial, or diaper wipes. They contain additives that can eventually break down the waterproof surface of the crib mattress.
