What is a 2 in 1 convertible crib?
A 2-in-1 convertible crib is a wooden or metal baby crib that we can later convert into one bigger bed. The same as other types of convertible cribs (3-in-1 or 4-in-1 convertible crib), you can find it in both sizes, as 2-in-1 mini or full-size cribs.
[stextbox id=’ovcka’ image=’null’]So, what is a 2-in-1 convertible baby crib? In short, this is a crib designed to go through different phases of your child’s life. It is one piece of furniture, meant for multiple uses.[/stextbox]
Is 2-in-1 baby crib the only type of convertible crib?
No, certainly not! With only two transformations, it is the basic convertible model. But you have other models with more conversions on the market as well.
The most popular type, is 4 -in-1 convertible crib, as it grows with your child all the way to adulthood. Because you can convert it to a toddler bed, daybed and into the full-size bed, it can be the only bed you will ever need. A lifetime bed for your child!
However, if you like designing new rooms and buying new furniture, a 3-in-1 convertible crib might be a better solution for you. You will have a bed for your newborn, baby and toddler, and a chance to buy a new teen room when your child outgrows the last 3-in-1 stage.
MAIN types OF CONVERTIBLE CRIBS:
And that is not all. You can get a 5-in-1 convertible crib or even a 7-in-1 type. But you need to aware, that these cribs don’t offer much more than 4-in-1 models.
For instance, a 5-in-1 convertible crib can convert into a full-size bed with or without a footboard. Those are forth and fifth conversions. As you can see, this is not a big difference compared to 4-in-1 convertible cribs.
Or another example. For convertible cribs with higher numbers in their names, manufacturers claim you can use a certain bed as a sofa or something else. In fact, you can use every daybed the same, so there is no significant difference as well.
What do I get if I decide for a 2-in-1 convertible crib?
You get a crib which can convert into one bigger bed. Depends on a model, the crib can convert into a toddler bed, daybed or even into a twin bed.
1. Crib → daybed
Majority of 2-in-1 models convert into a daybed. Why? Because, it is the cheapest option for you, and the easiest way for the manufacturer. You get a daybed by removing the front rail, and that is it. As you see, you don’t have to make any additional purchase, and you get all the needed parts in the original purchase.
2. Crib → toddler bed
If your preferred model converts into a toddler bed, you need a safety guardrail for the conversion. Whether it is included or not, differs from model to model.
3. Crib → full-size bed
If your crib converts into a full-size bed, you need a full-size convertible kit. The kit includes a large bed frame and a mattress pad. Of course, you have to buy a full-size mattress too.
